This morning I went to McDonalds in Excelsior, on an errand for the Bike-a-Thon. I had previously called the manager to ask if they would provide coupons for free ice cream for any of our riders that pass through on the 14 or 20 mile route. He agreed graciously (Yay!) and asked if I would come pick them up in person.
When I arrived this morning, I found Bill (the awesome manager) and received the envelope of coupons. He proceeded to tell me: "I've been looking forward to meeting you. I just want to say, it's an awesome thing that you guys are doing. My wife and I adopted our two sons from Russia a few years back. We spent some time in the orphanage there, and... I don't want to get emotional right now, but let's just say it was almost impossible to leave the orphanage without taking all the kids with us. So thank you for what you're doing. I'm happy to be a part of it." Leave it to our Puzzle Master to connect me with that particular manager of McDonalds, who has a connection already to what we are doing. Amazing! Not only is he putting all the pieces together, but he is making it beautiful just for the fun of it. I am always taken by surprise by His encouragements along the way. On top of the fifty coupons for free ice cream, the manager let me put up a promo poster for our event. Thank you Bill from McDonalds! For more Bike-a-Thon info, visit www.hsorphans.org/events

The past month of being home has been a whirlwind. After several days of falling asleep prematurely and waking up at 4am only to realize it wasn't morning yet, I finally got back into the swing of my normal routine. I'm back to work... like never before. Of course there is my day job (I work with three autistic boys that I adore), and then there is my self appointed HS duties. There are some major things happening in the near future for us, so I have definitely been keeping busy!
For one thing, I was preparing for our final Guidance Team meeting that took place on June 26th. I met with the team to discuss our final decision on a sending/supporting organization. It was huge! Sara and the team and I have come to an agreement on the best course of action, it is very exciting! This whole process has been quite the roller coaster ride, and it has been amazing to see Him work out every single detail for the best. PTL! There is lots to do in pursuit of this next season for us. Stay tuned on this. Even more time consuming has been our second annual Benefit Sale. The sale was definitely a success! It was an awesome event, and we were so excited to see the turnout of shoppers and supporters. We beat our record from last year, raising a total of $3,300! Thank you everyone! And last but not least, the First HS Bike-a-thon is coming up on August 4th! Be watching on our events page for more details and information. It's going to be grand! Lastly, I just want to give a shout out to everyone who has been supporting us in so many ways throughout our journey. Thank you for volunteering your time, money, thoughts, effort, and expertise!! We couldn't do any of this without you. |
A note from Rebekah...If you've ever wondered what it would be like to start a nonprofit from the ground up, to open a home for ORPHANS with special needs in Asia, you've come to the right place. Archives
