Today is Orphan Sunday. November is nationally recognized as Adoption Awareness month, and the first Sunday of November designated Orphan Sunday. That's today. I recently came across a quote on facebook that seems fitting for today: “Orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.” (From David Platt's book, Radical) The more I think about this, the truer it becomes! You know, despite the fact that I have held, touched, laughed with, comforted, played with, smiled at, and tickled the orphans we work with in China, I am guilty of forgetting how important and precious they are sometimes. I get caught up in the administration of HS here in the states. Moments like those, when I need a little inspiration to bring me back to why I do what I do, I go back to my pictures and videos. So I thought I'd share them with you today! Here's a video, just a snapshot of the kids we love so dearly and can't wait to spend more time with. And then enjoy some pictures of me and Sara with the kids. Even though you can't go there in person right now, perhaps seeing us with them will make it a little more real for you as well! HAPPY ORPHAN SUNDAY.

A note from Rebekah...If you've ever wondered what it would be like to start a nonprofit from the ground up, to open a home for ORPHANS with special needs in Asia, you've come to the right place. Archives
