Sara visited the orphanage this weekend! She is in Sichuan for the week, to visit our kiddos and have a few meetings with some of our contacts there. She was excited to return to her hometown and to spend quality time with the kids. We haven't seen them since May!
She told me a story about the two girls in this picture with her (above) that really twisted at my heart: "These two little sweet girls are actually sisters. I heard that their dad left the mom, and the mom left them together at the gate of the orphanage. The older one was old enough to walk, and she was trying to chase after the mom after they were dropped off... maybe that's why she doesn't talk and rarely smiles now." There are a few new babies at the orphanage since we last visited as well, and as we get closer and closer to opening HS in China, we like to imagine which babies we will get first. The sooner the better, because these kids need so much more than they are getting now. One thing that Sara did during her visit was give some winter supplies to the director that the VBS kids at Mills Church raised money for this summer! We were able to buy enough coats, hats, mittens, scarves, blankets, and space heaters to keep these kids warmer this coming winter. Praise him! Thank you to the community at Mills for making this possible. Thank you for all your support and thoughts! We couldn't do this without YOU.

A note from Rebekah...If you've ever wondered what it would be like to start a nonprofit from the ground up, to open a home for ORPHANS with special needs in Asia, you've come to the right place. Archives
